There are many internet scams around, most people by now should be aware of. Some tips are on this page as a service to our members. We are all concerned about security these days, sometimes a bit too much. If you use common sense approaches to internet use, you should'nt have any problems.
Squeagle does'nt ask for credit card information on sign up, the only information you have stored on our site would be your user name, and real name and address with phone number.That information does'nt need a secure situation, because most times that can be found thru public records.
Squeagle will NEVER send you a email asking for credit card, or user information. If we send a important peice of email to you we will show the last 3 digits of your password in it.
NEVER sign on to Squeagle or any other site thru an email, close the email and go to the site with your browser, as you normally would.
It is always best when selling on a auction venue, such as Squeagle, to use a service such as Paypal. They are secure for your transactions, have buyer and seller protection, and screen signups well enough to offer that protection. Sellers should also check their Paypal account after recieving a payment recieved email from Paypal, to be sure the funds are there, prior to shipping an item.
You can purchase an item thru Paypal without becoming a member of Paypal, so if the seller accepts Paypal, you can make the secure purchase immediately if you have a credit card.
Never directly give a seller your credit card number, always use a known pay service. If in doubt of the service, check their website, do a search engine search for their website, such as Yahoo or Google, if they are not there, do not deal with them.
Its always best to stay away from dealing with offers form buyers in emails,that are from countries such as , Nigeria, Romania, and some of the others. They offer Western Union, and Bidpay, and Postal Money Orders for payment, stay away from these offers, and you will do ok in any auction. Examples
